Clean Extinguishing Agents

Where Clean is Important

Cleanguard®

Often times Alpine receives inquiries about fire extinguishers that are safe for sensitive areas; places like data centers, health care facilities, labs, and museums. They offer a specialty product called Cleanguard®.

It is:
• safe for people
• a clean agent that does not leave a residue
• electrically nonconductive, noncorrosive and no thermal shock
• an environmentally preferred alternative to Halon 1211 with zero ozone depletion potential (ODP)

The advantages of a product like this are enormous when you consider the many sensitive indoor environments that exist in this 21st century. Engineered by DuPont® and manufactured by Ansul®, Cleanguard® is the cutting edge of fire suppression technology. Alpine sells and services these extinguishers at a competitive price, and offers service that is second to none. They are an authorized dealer, so you can expect the best.

Halon 1211/1301

Alpine specializes in Halon 1211/1301 recovery/recycling. Halon 1211 and 1301 are widely used fire-suppression and explosion-protection agents that are being phased out due to their negative effects on the environment.

Halons are very inert and not deleterious to most elastomers, metals, or electronic systems. Halons decompose to a small degree during a fire extinguishing event, releasing some hydrofluoric acid gases. However, the concentrations are so small (several hundred to several thousand ppm) and the gases so readily dispersed that material Haloncompatibility is not normally a concern, even if materials left in the enclosed space are sensitive to the acid gases and decomposition pro ducts of halons. The smoke, ash, and soot of the fire more often cause damage. But, both Halon 1211 and Halon 1301 have extremely high ozone-depletion potentials. As a result, production has been halted and use is being curtailed until existing supplies are exhausted. Let us help you recover your Halon and get you changed over to a Cleanguard® system.
