AED (Automatic Defibrillator)
AED's and SCA
What is SCA? It stands for Sudden Cardiac Arrest and the #1 way to ensure survival if your or an employee suffer one is an AED, or Automated External Defibrillator.
- Defibrillation within the first minute of SCA can save the lives of up to 90% of it's victims, however with each minute of delay until defibrillation the survival rate drops by 10%
- 90% of the the people you might need to administer CPR and AED to will be someone you know, while 70% will be a family member.
In some emergencies you may only have four minutes to save a life and anyone trained to perform CPR can be trained to use an AED. An AED is designed to be used by lay rescuers--thats YOU!
